Bengaluru: Healthcare technology company Indegene has announced the appointment of senior executives from GE and Quikr, said a statement issued today.
The firm has brought on board Marut Setia, former chief marketing officer for GE’s South Asia region, as senior vice-president of emerging markets and devices. Atul Tewari, former COO of Quikr, has also joined as senior vice-president of global delivery.

Globally, the company has onboarded 200+ new hires across various levels in the past few weeks.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has presented an opportunity for the life sciences industry to innovate and put digital first as the new normal. This is a significant departure from the conventional commercial practices. Marut and Atul will augment our leadership team and help gain an even stronger foothold in the global healthcare solutions market,” said Manish Gupta, CEO and co-founder, Indegene.

Since the Covid-19 situation erupted, the company has been witnessing a significant acceleration by the life sciences industry, towards digital and non-personal engagement with healthcare practitioners to minimise disruption in information dissemination and ensure continuity despite the situation.

This concept of “digital continuity” – the seamless extension of personal engagement — is playing out in all the major regions of the world and across multiple scenarios; such as product-focused detailing, one-to-one medical/clinical education and communication, and live medical meetings and conferences.

Setia was part of the executive leadership team at GE. His main areas of expertise are in incubating new businesses, P&L leadership, business transformation, revenue marketing and finance management. His stint at GE lasted 13 years.

Tewari, in his most recent experience as COO of Quikr, was part of the team that has built India’s largest horizontal classifieds with deep vertical focus into real estate, jobs, goods, services and automobiles. Prior to Quikr, he was managing director at BlackRock in Gurugram. He is a hands-on business builder with multiple years of experience in operations, strategy and M&A.

Indegene employs 2500+ people across its offices in North America, Europe, India and China. The company works with the top 20 global life sciences companies.
