My experience working for a global healthcare organization

This spring, I interned with Indegene, a technology-led healthcare solutions provider. I joined the team remotely as a Social Listening Intern in March and worked closely with Anant Puranik, Senior Manager, Strategic Marketing. Getting to know the Indegene family over the past two months has been an absolute pleasure.

My key assignment involved working on identifying social media trends in the healthcare industry and studying the behaviour of Indegene’s current and potential customers on LinkedIn. Additionally, we identified top influencers within the industry and Indegene to build thought leadership in the healthcare and life sciences sector. At the end of the project, I presented my findings to the team and received in-depth feedback on the aspects that worked and those that needed improvement. I believe this was a great opportunity to learn first-hand from experienced marketers.

The freedom at Indegene was great; I had complete flexibility in choosing the scope of my work, which built a strong sense of ownership in how I’d like to shape the findings and define what success meant to the project. Moreover, the team was careful not to bias my opinions to ensure that they received an outsider’s fresh perspective on the defined task.

What really stood out to me was the diversity of the Marketing Team, bringing forward cross-industry experiences and energy to every task, and the openness to new opinions and approaches. The team is passionate about delivering results, compassionate towards one another, and driven to elevate organizational growth.

I was also happy to see how considerate the team was about my personal goals. During my initial conversations with my manager, I had indicated an interest in product marketing. So, they assigned me to Smruthi, Senior Manager, Product Marketing, to help me work on product marketing projects. This highlighted how involved the organization was in the professional growth of each member. In my experience with Indegene, if you ask for opportunities, the team will go above and beyond to make that happen for you.

All these learnings directly contribute to my post-MBA goals and I’m thankful to the Indegene team for providing a wonderful platform to learn and grow. Beyond the internship, I take with me professional relationships that I hope to foster for years to come.
